At only C$135.00
per unit, the Nano-10 Super PLC is the ultimate answer to many OEM manufacturers' quest
for an extremely low cost small PLC with only a few I/Os, that yet possesses the
capability of high-end PLCs. Featuring a fast 32-bit CPU, 4 digital inputs, 4 digital
outputs, 2 Analog inputs (12-bit 0-5V) and weighing only 2.6 oz, the Nano-10 is equipped
with a built-in Ethernet port and an RS485 port and is ready to interface to the world of
industrial controls. The support for open standard Modbus RTU and Modbus/TCP on the RS485
and Ethernet ports allows the Nano-10 to be connected to the Internet and perform tasks
that until now was all but impossible on small OEM machines using nano-class PLCs. Read Control Design Magazine Exclusive report about the
Nano-10 PLC (March 2010 issue)
The Nano-10 PLC's 4 Digital Inputs are configurable as 2 x High
Speed Counters, 4 x Pulse measurement (frequency, width
and period) or 4 interrupt inputs.
Its 2 solid state digital outputs (sink up to 8A @24VDC) can act as 1 x Stepper
motor controller or 2 x Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) outputs.
Together with two isolated relays, the incredibly flexible I/Os on the Nano-10 readily fit
it into all kinds of applications.
Create
your own Control Web Page: The Nano-10 PLC's clever use of the AJAX
technologies allows anyone to create their own custom web page to control their equipment
using any browser (including the iPhone!), yet without the need to learn
to write a single line of Java or Javascript program code! (Click here to learn

NANO-10
Application Ideas
1. Nano-10 As Modbus TCP/IP Gateways for Sensors
Nano-10 built-in Modbus TCP/IP Server allows simultaneous connections by up to 5 Modbus
TCP/IP clients. With only a few lines of program code you can immediately collect
data from your current sensors and makes them available to the factory-wide SCADA or
Enterprise network Host Computer.
Best of all, you can also perform some pre-processing
(e.g. compute the moving average, scaling or linearization) of the data or perform local
control with its powerful yet simple to learn Ladder+BASIC programming language.
Since multiple communication protocols can coexist on the Ethernet network, Nano-10
provides an instant, low cost solution for sensor manufacturers or any users to connect
the sensor to the modern control system.
2. Quickly Create A Customized Basic Control Web Page
Since
the Nano-10 built-in web services employs the AJAX technology for equipment control, it
allows you to quickly create a custom web page within a few minutes to control your
equipment. Your user can then use any PC or smart phone (e.g. iPhone) web
browser to view the equipment, with graphical illustrations.
Best of all, your user does not need to install any application in order to view the
operation of your equipment. So what they gain is a no-hassle, free Graphical HMI to
interact with your equipment via the Internet.
Imagine how much this capability would add to the competitive advantage of your
equipment!
3. Creating More Sophisticated Control Web Pages
OEMs
who have web page design expertise can create their own highly sophisticated customized
webpage to control their equipment.
The attached video is contributed by an OEM customer who has created a customized
control web page for the Nano-10 PLC which is more sophisticated than the basic web
control web page shipped with the PLC.
4. Data Logging and Control of MODBUS Devices. Data Can Be Logged To
Remote Server Via The Internet.
Nano-10 can issue Modbus-RTU
or Modbus ASCII commands to access many industrial devices and sensors
such as power meters connected to its RS485 port. This means it can readily acquire data
from any instrument that understands Modbus protocol. In addition, since Nano-10 can
open a client connection to a remote server, it can log the acquired data to store as data
files in the remote PC.
5. Using Nano-10 As Remote I/O Host
Since all TRiLOGI PLC products feature built-in RS485 port, the Nano-10 PLC can easily
connect to a network of extremely low cost E10 or T100MD
PLCs across a large facility. These remote PLCs can provide local control without
supervision but can at the same time be controlled by the Nano-10. Multiple MDS100-BW
LCD displays can also be accessed individually by the Nano-10 to display real time
messages.
With a simple <CONNECT> command the Nano-10
can even connect to and communicate with all other Nano-10 or F-series PLCs via the
Internet!
6. Internet Accessible Home Control System
You can implement a small control system to directly control some equipment
in your home and add an web page interface to it in no time.
By
communicating to a Z-wave base device via RS485/RS232 port you can even perform whole
house control via the Internet.
